Not to mean to add yet a second (2), meta-response to this thread ...

But yes, most of us North Americans forget that dual-language signs
are the norm, not the exception.  Imagine if Officer Aykroyd had to
use his smartphone to translate these important messages, and he got
them wrong because of an out-of-office message.  Those poor Qu?b?cois
wouldn't have been able to read the signs!
