There is no step 2 Now compare what you can do with the ISC DHCP server, and what you can?t do with a Windows server - not to mention that the Windows server is NOT RFC compliant and relies on client behaviour (which is why the Windows client is such a PITA at times) to work properly. Even though I?ve never got into anything complicated, I?ve hit cases where the Windows admin responds to what I think is a simple request with ?I can?t see how to do that? - ditto with DNS vs BIND. Oh yes, does Windows allow you to edit a range yet - I know it didn?t during the 2+ decades I spent at my previous jobs. For more fun, compare what it?s like to fix when the AD goes down ... Indeed. It's like a luxury car versus a race car. That luxury car is a dream to ride in, but you can only get it fixed at an expensive dealership because the contents are all proprietary. Assuming that they have an expert mechanic who knows those proprietary details. The race car can be a rough ride, but you have full access to diagnose and repair its contents. THIS is why I love open source. ------------------------------ Subject: Digest Footer _______________________________________________ ISC funds the development of this software with paid support subscriptions.
