Hello again,

This list is open and publically available. Anyone with an interest in HISP
is welcome.

I have now subscribed everyone from the developer list to this
[email protected] list.

We have 4 public lists, which anyone can join, and which are archived openly
on the internet and can thus be read by anyone:

1) DHIS 2 developer list for programmers
http://www.hisp.info/mailman/listinfo/dhis-dev
2) DHIS 2 source code list for programmers
http://www.hisp.info/mailman/listinfo/dhis-scm
3) DHIS 1.4 user list http://www.hisp.info/mailman/listinfo/dhis14
4) DHIS 2 user list http://www.hisp.info/mailman/listinfo/dhis-users

Only programmers and others interested in technical details need to
subscribe to list 1) and 2), as they see a lot of traffic which is
uninteresting to most of you.

However, it is imperative that anyone with a remote interest in DHIS 2
(either development or use) is subscribed to AND ACTIVELY USE this list (4),
which has so far been completely dead. Reviving this list is our main way to
improve communication patterns. All coordinators, all developers, all
implementers and all end users of DHIS 2 should preferably be signed up
(this is how it is with the DHIS 1.4 list). Please encourage people to send
their technical and usability problems to this list. We need to establish a
robust communication culture in HISP.

It is important that we all use this list and encourage others to do the
same. If anyone has trouble signing up, please let me know. I will also stop
replying to personal email regarding questions which can be discussed and
stored publicallly on the internet, but will simply forward any such request
to this list, and I STRONGLY URGE ALL OF YOU TO DO THE SAME. Preferably
before local situations escalate. I think we should use this list for all
public messages regarding HISP - which really SHOULD include A LOT of what
is today communicated within various closed email circles, but which does
not really involve personal or sensitive information.

Thus, I propose that we all focus our energies on making use of this
dhis-users list for all kinds of communication about HISP issues, whether
related to detailed user problems or not (but not the highly technical
discussions, of course). E.g. things like newsletter, conferences,
collaborations, new functionality, releases of software, things that are
needed, bugs etc. Our main global tools for coordination will then be the
following three:

1) [email protected]
2) Wiki: http://www.hisp.info/ (needs improvement)
3) Trac: http://www.hisp.info/dhis2

Comments welcome,
Knut
