Potentially interesting gathering to discuss standards oriented view
of public sector in the cloud. Its a bit sad that people still see
Europe, North America and Asia as sufficient to provide a truly global
perspective, but there you have it. Most of the really critical
issues (security, identity, policy, law, interoperability etc) are
getting an airing.

Dear Bob,

The OASIS open standards consortium invites you to attend the
International Cloud Symposium (ICS), an event focused on the unique
security challenges faced by the public sector in deploying cloud
computing. High-level government officials from around the world will
explore the intersection of policies, standards, and best practices
with leaders from the privacy, identity, and security industry. The
Siena Initiative (funded by the European Union), the Cloud Best
Practices Network (based in Canada), and the U.S. National Institute
of Standards and Technology (NIST) join OASIS in supporting the Int'l
Cloud Symposium. The event will be held at the historic Ditton Manor,
near Heathrow, UK, on 10-13 October.
