We should all be aware of OpenHDS, an open source health and demographics system for developing countrie It is based on Spring and Hibernate, and has adopted many ideas from OpenMRS, including authentication schemes and database structure:
http://openhds.rcg.usm.maine.edu/ Ime has built a a demographic rates and reports module for use in Nigeria, as well as a DHIS2 integration module for OpenHDS, and is planning to simplify it with the new DXF format. Events include pregnancies, births, deaths, in and out migration, and marital status change. Events can also change social group membership or relationships according to fixed rules. Longitudinal events occur to individuals at risk (i.e. active members) and must follow simple logical relationships.
