Re the dashboard the list you are referring to is actually showing charts - if you go to "Reports" module - "Charts" and add more charts they will become available in the dashboard list right away. Re the ad-hoc analysis we agree and are currently developing a new "data visualizer" module based on the latest javascript/HTML5 frameworks. It will make it possible to dynamically select any combination of indicators/data elements, periods and org unit and visualize the data as an array of chart types and tables. Its scheduled for the 2.5 release at October 15.
