Prabhakar - I'm running 0.96.1 - 7 (patch 7 is recommended for Windows) on a
Vista laptop. I have no such issues with saving files anywhere. Just tried to
do a straight save to Pictures and it worked ok. Normally I save or "save as "
to my own folder buried deep in Documents.

This seems to be the default for the Windows version. Not sure if it can
easily be changed. I just use "Save As..." and browse to the folder I want to
save into, every time.
