I didn't say 0.0254  I said 0.254

0.254 is centimeters.   1in = 25.4 mm = 2.54 cm.....0.1 in = .254 cm

The grid is 0.1 inches square and with 10 lines per major line the grid will
mark out inches.

I don't know how to get the ruler to read inches, but if you do this you can
just go by the grid instead.
