Similar problem exists with shapes - embedding shape files within a dia
file would prevent that problem with missing shape files somebody has
raised here recently.
Perhaps it's time to finally enhance the *.dia format. Instead of a
(gzipped) xml file, make it an archive as is the case of OpenOffice files.
For example:
/
dia.xml
shapes/
shape1.png
shape1.xml
....
images/
image1.png
....
sounds/
....
