I do have problems handling the alignment of objects. It seems to me,
that objects are always aligned in the same way, disregarding the
alignment option.
Example (initial alignment):

Now I select the upper rectangle and the the lower one. When I went
through all horizontal alignment menu items, the result was always:

| |
| |
+--+
+----------+
| |
| |
+----------+
Trying all vertical alignment menu items, I always get:
+-+---------+
| | |
| | |
| ++--------+
+--+
How exactly is the alignment feature meant to work? I did not find any
documentation about it at all.
