Gday Marina,
You can use gravity flow if the digester outlet is above the lagoon. One of the compromises with choice of digester design is that with an above ground digester you have to pump effluent in but can drain by gravity compared to an in ground digester where you can load by gravity but usually have to empty by pump (unless you have a good slope available or are using a shallow digester design. You are right that the pressure will be close to atmospheric, unless you do something to trap the gas. Happy digesting, HOOROO Mr. Paul Harris, Room 202 Charles Hawker Building, Faculty of Sciences, The University of Adelaide, Waite Campus, PMB 1, Glen Osmond SA 5064 Ph : +61 8 8303 7880 Fax : +61 8 8303 4386 mailto:[email protected] http://www.adelaide.edu.au/directory/paul.harris CRICOS Provider Number 00123M This email message is intended only for the addressee(s) and contains information that may be confidential and/or copyright. From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Marina Solanas Sent: Wednesday, 18 May 2011 9:14 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [Digestion] digestate from the AD to the storage tank (lagoon) Another thing we are studying, are the possibilities of taking out the digestate from the AD to the lagoon. We´d prefer not to use pumps to reduce energy consumption and investment costs. Could we use gravity to take the substrate from the mixing chamber to the digestor and from the digestor to the storage tank? i´m not sure about the depth of ground water. Thanks to all!
