Thanks Les for your interesting observations. I never thought of siloxanes but you're probably right. Anyway I think it's a quite innovative biomass to use for digestion. If anybody know something about its use in anaerobic digestion, please let me know. Best regards!

The reed is unique in it's ability to lock silicon into its stem tissues. That's why it is used for making oboe reeds. When digested the silicone would most likely be expresses as siloxanes in the Biogas. But I have not seen any data. Good research project for someone. I would think phragmites Australis would be a better bet. You can grow the latter in a reed bed on the final effluent. The resulting effluent would be crystal clear and the productivity of the reed bed very high. Hmmmmm :-). Les. If yes, in what percentage? What are the other substrates? What kind of pretreatment is required? Thank you very much in advance, best regards. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Valore legale alle tue mail InterfreePEC - la tua Posta Elettronica Certificata http://pec.interfree.it ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Click here<https://www.mailcontrol.com/sr/wQw0zmjPoHdJTZGyOCrrhg==> to report this email as spam. _______________________________________________ Digestion mailing list to Send a Message to the list, use the email address [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> to UNSUBSCRIBE or Change your List Settings use the web page http://lists.bioenergylists.org/mailman/listinfo/digestion_lists.bioenergylists.org for more information about digestion, see Beginner's Guide to Biogas http://www.adelaide.edu.au/biogas/ and the Biogas Wiki <http://biogas.wikispaces.com/> http://biogas.wikispaces.com/ Please visit www.projen.co.uk/email-disclaimer.asp to view our email disclaimer.
