It appears that there are about 1000 dairy farms in the 500 cow bracket in South Africa. Their requirement is to generate some power as well as chilling capacity for cooling the milk. The cost of power has more than trebled in the past five years and, as we have three major wholesale milk buyers, the price of milk has not changed to accommodate inflation.
