To make sure passing the gas through a steel wool pack works quite well (it can be regenerated if necessary). As far as corrosion of the motor you need to consider the cost of scrubbing (capital, operation and maintenance) compared to the slightly reduced engine life, accepting that the exhaust gases will be slightly acidic as well.
