We've just moved the DIGITALDIVIDE list to our new home at EDC, completing
the transition from the benton.org list server. Because of the move, there
are several major changes in the way the list operates, so please read
this email carefully and save it for future reference.
POSTING
To post a message to the list, please direct your email to
[EMAIL PROTECTED] Now that the move is complete, please feel
free to post effective immediately. Messages to the old address,
[EMAIL PROTECTED], will no longer be sent out to list members,
so please update your email address book.
SUBSCRIBING
There are two options for joining the list: email registration and Web
registration.
Email Registration
To subscribe via email, send an email message to
[EMAIL PROTECTED] In the first line of the body write
the following:
subscribe
You?ll then receive an email notification requiring you to reconfirm your
subscription. Please follow the directions to make sure you've been
subscribed to the list.
Web Registration
You can also join the list via the Web. Simply visit
http://mailman.edc.org/mailman/listinfo/digitaldivide/ and submit your
email address and name in the form fields on the page. As is the case with
email registration, you?ll then receive a confirmation email message
asking you to re-confirm your membership.
UNSUBSCRIBING
To unsubscribe, send an email message to
[EMAIL PROTECTED] In the first line of the body write
the following:
unsubscribe
Or, visit http://mailman.edc.org/mailman/listinfo/digitaldivide/ and go
down to the bottom of the page, enter your email address in the form field
for unsubscribing, then click the UNSUBSCRIBE button.
DIGEST Format
If you were previously subscribed to the list in digest format and wish to
receive the digest again, first you'll have to get a password from the
server. To do this, send a message to
[EMAIL PROTECTED] and in the body of the message
write:
password
You?ll then receive an email from the server with your password. Be sure
to save it for future reference.
Once you've received your password, you can change your list membership to
digest format. To receive the daily digest, send a message to
[EMAIL PROTECTED] and in the body of the message
write:
set authenticate mypassword
set digest plain
You'll then receive your list messages in a daily digest instead of
individual postings. Be sure to replace the word ?mypassword? with your
list password.
If you'd ever like to switch back to individual postings, send another
message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with this command:
set authenticate mypassword
set digest off
and you'll have your settings changed appropriately. Again, please
remember to replace ?mypassword? with your actual password.
ARCHIVES
The new list archive will now be hosted at
http://mailman.edc.org/pipermail/digitaldivide/
However, we're still working to move the archive, so it probably won't be
functional until later this week.
