I think this is really good stuff - for both the kids and the elderly. 
The kids learn more by teaching; they learn how to communicate with the 
elderly - which is really important - and explain how things work. 
Meanwhile, the elderly gain as well.

On a sidenote - I really wish that the Washington Post had a way of 
linking, like the New York Times does: http://nytimes.blogspace.com/genlink

By being able to link directly to the article, it could be discussed a 
lot easier. Cuts into readership data, but it does get more reading.
