This is my first post to the list and I decided to respond to this message.
I did not realize my entry would get picked up by a search engine. That entry
was about an idea I had to start a new community on the website. It was not
that great of an entry, I just wanted some advice if I should start it. Since
it made it in a google alert, I decided to go ahead and start the community. I
deleted that entry and wrote another one (which I was planning on doing anyway
when I started the community). I realized the google news was what was showing
up on the alerts. I searched the news and my new entry showed. Well, I decided
I do not feel comfortable yet with my messages being in the top news. I ended
up deleting that one too. I am really sorry that I had to do that. It's really
important to know that blog entries and profiles on the digital divide network
can be picked up on the web (and the news too).
Here is the message I wrote after I created the community-
I just started a new community called "Learning about the Digital Divide in the
Classroom".
This community is mainly for students and college graduates who have studied
(or are studying) topics relating to the Digital Divide in their classes. As a
recent college graduate who learned about some of these topics in my college
courses, I wanted to start this community.
I know there are students who have signed up on here and it would allow them to
get involved more with the site.
I am thinking this would have class assignments/papers listed under articles
and links to course webpages and schools who offer these courses in web
resources. I think this could lead to students/college grads blogging about
their related courses.
I also want this community to include instructors who teach courses related to
the digital divide topics. Anyone else interested in learning how students are
learning about digital divide topics in classes can join too.
