Black American Inventors...Can You Help?

By Stephen M. Nipper

I received the following inquiry last week via e-mail. The
e-mailer (author) is looking for information on:

...Black American inventors who have not been credited with
their inventions. This wrong could have occurred for any of
several reasons, such as that the inventors were (1) slaves
who had no legal standing in America; (2) robbed of their
invention by unscrupulous individuals; (3) lacking necessary
resources (financial, educational, etc.) to properly protect
their inventions; (4) employees of companies credited with
the inventions; (5) associates of famous or powerful
individuals who took full credit for the inventions. If you
are aware of any Black American who should be credited, in
your estimation, with one or more inventions, we would be
most appreciative if you would reply with any relevant
information, including but not limited to (1) the name of
the inventor, (2) the name of the invention(s), (3) the date
of birth/death, (4) any documents that contain pertinent
information about the inventor, such as published articles,
corporate records, or legal documents.

Can any of you help? If so, let me know and I'll get you the
author's contact information. Email: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
