Hi everyone,
For those of you planning to attend "The Gates," Christo and Jeanne-Claude's art installation in New York's Central Park, I've set up an "open blog" that allows the general public to post critiques, voice messages and images from the event.

For two weeks beginning this Saturday, February 12, Christo and Jeanne-Claude will decorate Central Park with thousands of saffron-colored flags on gates throughout the park. It's expected to be the biggest public art event in New York history.
The website is set up to accept blog postings from anyone who wants to comment on The Gates. You don't have to know anything about blogging to participate: you can post your thoughts via email or by voicemail. So far, volunteers from New York and elsewhere have already posted a series of photos and stories from Central Park.
If you're planning to visit The Gates, or simply have some thoughts you'd like to share about the event, I'd like to invite you to participate in this community-driven blog.
Participating by email:
If you would like to post something to the website, please send an email with your comments to this address:

(You'll have to remove the blank spaces before and after the "@" symbol. This is to discourage spam.)
Please put the title of your comments in the "subject" line of the email, and then your comments in the body of the email. Feel free to sign your email or post anonymously, whichever is more comfortable for you. Advertisements and off-topic posts will be removed immediately from the site.
You can also use this email address to post photos to the website; simply attach your photos to your email, then put the title in the subject line and a description and photo credit in the message body. Please only send your own photos; do not send copyrighted material or other people's photos without their permission. If you would like others to be able to use your photo, please feel free to make a note of it in the body of your email message.
Participating by voicemail:
For those of you who would rather post a voice recording (a "podcast") on the blog, please follow these instructions.
1. Dial 1 - 661- 716 - BLOG (2564)
2. Enter the telephone login code 212-555-1212
3. Enter the PIN code 2005, then the # key
4. Record your message, then hit the # key when you're done
5. Press "1" to post your recording to the website
Please feel free to say your name and where you're from when you record your voicemail; volunteers will listen to each voicemail and try to summarize them in a text message included with each podcast.
I hope some of you will have an opportunity to visit The Gates when it opens in New York this weekend. And if you do, please post your thoughts to the blog and participate in this experiment in citizen journalism.
