hi everyone -

your personal stories are the most valuable thing you own. the
blogging tool on the new DDN site is an ideal tool for sharing
them. your stories can be either recent stories, or stories from
the past. the stories can be short or long. you can formulate your
stories in your mind when doing other things in your day, and then
quickly type them onto your DDN blog.

as an example, here's a story (anecdote) i posted to my DDN blog
this morning.

           http://www.digitaldivide.net/blog/pshapiro/view?PostID=2129

you can include links in your stories that point to related
information on the web.

the quantity and quality of stories that are shared by DDN
bloggers will be one factor in determining the success of
this web site. i have a hunch DDN blog postings will be one
of the most viewed parts of the DDN site. blog postings are
what i read most on the site already.

the designers of this site let you view all recent blog
entries with a single mouse-click from the "browse blogs"
link at the bottom left side of the site. this is a
brilliant design.

although your personal stories will scroll off the site in a
day or two, they will always be accessible to anyone who
browses through the entirety of your DDN blog postings. a new
blog posting you post on the DDN site might lead people to your
view previous blog postings. i know whenever i see an
interesting blog posting on the DDN site, i head over to view
the other blog postings this person has made.

you can set up your DDN blog from within your Profile. it
takes hardly any time to do so. if you have another blog
somewhere, you might choose to name your DDN blog
accordingly. i've named my DDN blog, "Phil Shapiro's DDN
Blog."

if you haven't yet set up an account on the DDN site, this
is a good time to do so.
http://www.digitaldivide.net cedar pruitt, the online content manager
of the site, is available to help you with questions you have about the
site. [EMAIL PROTECTED]

i have found cedar to be excellent at answering questions
about the site. other site members may also be able to
answer your questions, freeing up cedar to do more of the
other important work she needs to take care of in her day.

                 - phil

every blog posting you make on the DDN site has a unique web site address.
if you'd like to share the web site address with people who don't have a
DDN site account, it's probably best if you first log out of the DDN site
and then navigate back to that blog posting, click on the title (subject)
of the blog posting, and then copy that web site address.

i collected the web site address of my blog posting above using this method.

otherwise you might end up with a blog posting web site address that is
viewable only by persons
who are logged into the DDN site. that could lock out some people who
would like to read your blog posting, but who are not interested in
setting up an account on the DDN site.
