Dear DDN members,
My name is Chanzo Greenidge. Over the next six months, I will be conducting a
scoping study on the status of Information and Communications Technology (ICT)
project development involving the Caribbean diaspora on behalf of the
International Development Research Centres PAN Americas corporate project (see
Notes). My co-consultant (research partner) on this project is Mr. Schiller
Jean-Baptiste of REHRED in Haiti.
This preliminary studys specific objectives are to:
#159; Map current ICT initiatives that involve the Caribbean diaspora,
as well as the actors (i.e. ICT practitioners, diaspora organizations, private
and public sector institutions, and donors) working on ICT and diaspora
projects.
#159; Identify models, methodologies and existing networks that have
been developed by the diaspora and in the Caribbean
#159; Identify priority areas and themes for potential ICT project
development involving the diaspora.
The study aims to stimulate the involvement of the Caribbean diaspora in local
development through ICT projects, facilitate joint initiatives between the
diaspora and locally-based ICT practitioners, and effectively engage diaspora
communities in social and economic development in home countries while having a
positive effect on the reduction of the digital divide.
To this end, we are hoping to draw on your experience as practitioner in the
preparation of our study. If your work touches the ICT-Diaspora nexus in any
way, I would like to meet with you informally (virtually or in person) to
discuss your activities and the details of our own project.
Please contact me at [EMAIL PROTECTED] to confirm your availability. Also, if
you have any suggestions as to persons whose experiences and opinions would
contribute to the quality of the study, your input is more than welcome.
Best regards,
Chanzo G>
Chanzo Greenidge
