Hello all,

I am a Brown University student concentrating in Computer Science and
Development Studies, and I am conducting research on how to create incentives
for developing, promoting and popularizing pro-poor information technology for
different sectors and stakeholders - private, public, non-profit, and even poor
and marginalized users themselves.

I am familiar with many "lessons learned" type evaluatiive reports by UNDP and
others. Although they are exteremely valuable, they do not answer to the
question of how to create incentives to develop, promote and sustain these
initiatives, be they private or public. I am also familiar with the "creating
markets at the bottom of the pyramid (BOP)" approach of Professor CK Prahalad,
but would like to expand my understanding to other sectors and disciplines'
perspectives.

My incentive for you here is that I hope this research will not just be another
theis research, but to make a meaningful contribution to the digital divide
community as well as as the stakeholders that all of us work with. Do you have
suggestions on how to create incentives from your ICT4D field work or research
experience? Do you know who I should talk to or read about? I would love to
hear from you offline.

Sincerely,

Vanessia Wu
B.A. Candidate, Brown University
