Hi everyone,
Some of you may have noticed when you registered for DDN that you weren't able to add your organization's name to your profile; instead, you had to choose from a drop-down list that may not show your organization. This is because we recently discovered a potential security flaw in the website. Originally, when you'd subscribe to DDN, you would have the option of clicking on a link that would let you add your org to the drop-down menu. But because this occurred before your membership was verified, it meant that anyone could access the site's database and add content to it before becoming a member. So to lock up this loophole, the site developers removed this feature.
Because of this, when you register to DDN for the first time, you're left to choose from a drop-down menu that may not have your org listed in it. This means that when you've registered, your ddn profile will be missing some key information. But it's easy to fix. All you have to do is log into the website and go to this page:
http://www.digitaldivide.net/orgs/add.php
This page will let you add your org to the drop-down menu. Only people who are logged into the site will be able to access this page. Once you've added your org, you can go to your Edit Profile page (http://www.digitaldivide.net/members/edit.php), select your org from the drop-down menu, and add it to your profile.
I'd highly recommend that all of you check your profiles to see if your organization is listed; if it's not, this should take care of it.
thanks, andy
