Do you use Google? - built and hosted on Open Source technolgoies
Do you use Amazon? - built and hosted on Open Source technolgoies
Do you Blog? - most are built and hosted on Open Source technolgoies
Do you EMail? - a very large number of mail servers (I believe the majority) are Open Source.
Do you use a web browser? Those URLs you type in - they are converted by a network of machines running (in the huge majority of cases) open source technolgoies
How about Oracle (one of the most widespread database systems)? Contains lots of Open Source software
The list could go on forever.
Open source is already all around you. Just because you can't *see* it doesn't mean it is not there.

I agree, Raymond. The potential dangers of widespread open source software (including operating systems) are great.

I actually like the idea of a simple low cost computer to "assist" with bridging the digital divide, with an emphasis on ASSIST. But I do have a problem with the idea of Open Source operating system; maybe someone can clarify this for me.
If Microsoft has such a problem with people hacking into the loopholes of
their closed source code, what type of malicious viruses will we begin
seeing if an Open Source Operating system such as Linux becomes the dominant
OS?
