hi DDN community -
some happy news to share this evening. a teacher friend of mine
in the district of columbia public schools has been inducted into
the national teacher's hall of fame. http://www.nthf.org
i volunteered at john mahoney's school for the FIRST robotics
competition in january and february of this year and got to see
his work up close. remarkable is all i can say.
if you're interested, see

powerbullet presenter flash slideshow from the Banneker 2005
Robotics team. we used the free version of powerbullet presenter
to create this. http://www.powerbullet.com
i've asked john mahoney to join the DDN web site. he'll be joining
soon.
read about his background and interests at
http://www.nthf.org/inductee/05mahoney.htm
i'd just ask that you go light on sending him emails as he
typically works 15 to 18 hour work days. his passion is in
teaching calculus and advanced placement statistics. he brings a
lot to the DDN community -- and we also bring a lot to him.
our strength is our unity of purpose.
blog on,

i'd like to thank my friend janet lathan from takoma park, maryland, for
inviting me to participate in the FIRST robotics competion. it opened many
new doors for me and was immensely rewarding.

i commend dean kamen and all involved in the annual FIRST robotics
competition. it's worth exploring involvement in your community. we are
inventing our own future and need as many inventors as we can.
