I just wanted to update the group and tell everyone that I got to meet Peter Abrahamsen while I have been here in Nicaragua - his profile is here: http://www.digitaldivide.net/profile/peidran
So, I guess we could say that we had a really informal meeting for the Digital Divide in Nicaragua - completely unplanned. Unfortunately, I didn't get to see what he's doing first hand because I'm leaving for Costa Rica tomorrow, and Panama the day after. Busy, busy. But what's really cool about Peter's work is that... he's financing it *himself*. It is so very nice to meet someone who is simply doing something nice. Perhaps there are some funding leads for him somewhere? I'll shake whatever trees I find, but maybe someone else knows something. I do really enjoy Nicaragua... it's one of the places that I shall return to. I've been fortunate in meeting some really great people. The murals are amazing here... and while I haven't seen a lot of Latin America yet, the artistry of Nicaraguans amazes me. There's quite a few people using Linux here, of course - in fact one NGO that I met (and shall write about another time) is using Linux to keep some old hardware alive. I think we have 2 new people who are joining DDN as well... I do have to tell them how to join, so I have to dig that up now as well. :-) -- Taran Rampersad Presently in: Managua, Nicaragua [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.linuxgazette.com http://www.a42.com http://www.knowprose.com http://www.easylum.net "Criticize by creating." — Michelangelo _______________________________________________ DIGITALDIVIDE mailing list [email protected] http://mailman.edc.org/mailman/listinfo/digitaldivide To unsubscribe, send a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the word UNSUBSCRIBE in the body of the message.
