hi DDN community members -

i'm working on a news story for wikinews
(http://en.wikinews.org/wiki/Main_Page) on the growing momentum of
the DDN web site and community. within this news story i'd like
to cite some anecdotes from DDN members explaining what benefits
they've had from participating in DDN. has the DDN list or new
web site helped you meet new colleagues in your town or elsewhere?
did something specific and constructive occur from those new
connections?

have you learned about a computer program or web site via DDN
that has helped you in your work? if so, how? have you blogged
for the first time on the DDN site? if so, what was the
experience like? how would you describe the mood of the DDN
community? how would you describe the layout and organization of
the DDN web site?

the more specific you can be in sharing these stories, the
stronger the final article will be.
in the spirit of wikinews, this article will be written from as neutral a
perspective as possible -- while at the same time revealing detailed
information about the nature of the DDN community.

other reporters might choose to use information from this
article as a jumping off piece for their own articles.

i invite others who'd like to co-author this piece to be in
touch with me, too. the quantity and quality of writing talent
within the DDN community is very large. we can put it to use.

naturally, i'll be running this article by cedar pruitt and
andy carvin before it gets posted online. participatory
journalism is all well and good. thoughtful, carefully
crafted participatory journalism is better.

                 - phil

i'd like to hear from any DDN members interested in doing work to add
multimedia elements to this news story, too.

is there a completion date set for this? not really. i'd like to have it
finished before the end of May, 2005, though, to leverage press interest
in the June, 2005, CTCNet national conference in cleveland, ohio.
