Dear All,

I have been lurking for a few months on this mailing list and I think
it's time to 'come out'. For two reasons: first, to get in touch with
people working on the same topic as I am working on and second, to give
you details on the UK Children Go Online reports that Andy Carvin
already brought up in a previous post to this list.

So first things first; I am currently working on a PhD project that
looks at internet use in socially excluded groups and how digital
exclusion relates to social identity.

I am focussing on 16 to 19 year olds in the Greater London Area from
African Caribbean, Asian, disabled, and non-heterosexual groups. I am
half way through my fieldwork and am looking for advice on how to best
approach contacting physically disabled (blind, deaf, motor
disabilities, dyslectic, etc) young people to fill out a survey of about
30 minutes (either in paper format or online). They need to be able to
do so on their own without anyone helping them because of anonymity
issues. If anyone has any tips or would be interested in knowing more
about this project, please contact me at the email address mentioned
below.

Second, I have been working with Prof. Dr. Sonia Livingstone and Dr.
Magdalena Bober on the UK Children Online project which has recently
produced two new reports. Free hard copies of the final report are
available to all who send in an email request.

What follows is the official announcement of publication with web links
for all of you who are interested in looking at the previous and recent
reports.

Dear colleagues,

two new reports from the UK Children Go Online (UKCGO) project have been
published recently:

Inequalities and the Digital Divide in Children and Young People's
Internet Use: Findings from the UK Children Go Online project (UKCGO
survey findings in relation to internet access, low users and the
digital divide)

UK Children Go Online: Final report of key project findings (a summary
of integrated project findings with main conclusions and policy
recommendations)

Both reports, the press release and media coverage are available on the
project website, www.children-go-online.net

If you would like to receive a free hard copy of the Final Report,
please email <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

Kind regards,
