I just successfully posted my first video blog entry from the BusyInternet cybercafe here in Accra, Ghana. The bandwidth is wonderful by Ghanaian standards, but somewhat slow by US standards, so I've had to experiment with the video compression to find compression rates suitable for uploading and downloading here. I've made two versions of a 40-second montage, showing images from around the cybercafe. The low-bandwidth version is around 600k, the medium-bandwidth version is 1.5 megs; uncompressed the file would have been over 30 megs, which is simply impractical here in Ghana.
