Dear Deborah (and others), You might be interested in our effort to get kids to even think about technology career pathways: http://www.thefunworks.org Sadly, our work may end due to lack of funding. The nonprofit and government funds that sustained us are no longer available. "Go to private funding sources," we're being told. I fear the privatization of the US government has begun and worry about what means to the nation. This has prompted me to reflect once again on how we don't do enough to create career paths (i.e., entry level opportunities) and career ladders (i.e., opportunities for increased responsibility and a living wage) for those who want to enter this field.>> Dear Colleagues, Just a quick follow-up: Tim Mills-Groninger of the IT Resource Center has been kind enough to post to my blog his chapter on technology staffing from the recent book "Nonprofit Internet Strategies." You can read it here: "Hiring and feeding techies" Tim Mills-Groninger <http://blog.deborah.elizabeth.finn.com/blog/_archives/2005/7/29/1089077.html> Enjoy!
