hi DDN members -

this past week the founders of google sold several billion dollars
worth of stock. i'm hoping this occurence might signal a possible
launch of the google foundation.
(see http://shorterlink.com/?UYDKGO)

you can keep tabs on the google foundation's work at
http://google.org

there's nothing much there yet, but it's important that we all
visit that site often. our web traffic is one way we can indicate
to google that the world is fully ready for the google foundation
to come into being.

what will be the areas of interest of the google foundation?
that's still up in the air at the moment. it's pretty clear
that this new foundation will support open source software
initiatives, though. the people at google love gnu/linux and
other open source software.
