Ok, I'm an opportunist. It's always the season to promote the cause of
digital literacy and community networking.

One manner of promoting the cause involves educating our elected officials.
Several states, Illinois included, celebrate a "Community Technology Day" .

There are arguments on both sides regarding coordinating the dates of these
events across the USA. In practical terms it's really a matter of what
works in your state. You may not want to compete with another interest
group, or you may wish to combine with one, but in either case you certainly
want to time the event for when the legislature is in session.

My comments center upon state-level efforts, but state-level officials
aren't the only ones that need to know what we are about. Local and Federal
officials and elected representatives need to hear from us too.

Will there be a Community Technology Day in your state or locality? Will
you be a part of it?

If there hasn't been, you should be the one to start it. Start it this
year.

If you do it, we want to hear about it. (or at least I do)

(For those of you outside the US, I am sure the same efforts will benefit
your cause locally!)

Happy New Year!
