Dear Michael,

We have used the webcasting resources of the Internet2 Commons Videoconferencing System at Ohio State. I checked the Internet2 university partners website and the University of Illinois, Chicago and Northwestern are both partners on the new resource. I do not know what their policy or cost are but this resource was reliable and also stored the video for us so that we could post it to the web for on-demand viewing from our server.

This is the address of the commons where the videoconferening system is available to partners. http://commons.internet2.edu/ If you would like to see what the webcast that we did looks like when stored for on-demand from our system, you will find it at http://www.education.ucsb.edu/thematicschool This is a four site, two country webcast on research methods for studying classrooms from an anthropological perspective. The event was seamless and peole across sites and countries were interactive and responsive in real time.

Good luck with your Webcasting.

Hey Webheads,
I'm wondering if there's anyone on this list who might be able to
point me to a source to assist with Webcasting a live event
  next weekend.
Obviously, budget is an issue, so we may inquire at a local
  University for assistance.
Also, I saw a threat a while back about someone who was
working on an Internet-based fax solution for non-profits.
If you or someone you know might have some leads
on these questions, please drop me a line at
  info at sustainable-community.org
Best regards, Michael Burns
