Ungana-Afrika, with the support of OSISA <http://www.osisa.org/>, is hosting
a selection of free workshops that help leaders of non-profit organisational
communities understand and implement new models of technology support and
capacity-building. Upcoming workshops will take place in Harare, Zimbabwe on
28-29 March 2006.

INCUBATION OF ICT CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAMS

Many non-profits and non-profit networks in Southern Africa are beginning to
recognize the value of information and communication technologies (ICTs),
but lack the funding and resources necessary to harness the opportunities
they offer. As a result, Ungana-Afrika is helping to incubate and implement
ICT capacity-building structures that harness and mobilize community skills
and resources. These programs give collaborative groups (and individual
non-profits) the power to better implement technology as a strategic,
mission-focused tool. This workshop will introduce non-profit leaders to new
support concepts and materials which they can use to launch their own sector
or network-focused ICT capacity building programs.

Ungana-Afrika has about three years experience implementing and managing ICT
support programs within Southern Africa's development community.
Furthermore, Ungana-Afrika works closely with other international groups
that provide similar services throughout the globe.

For more specifics about this incubation concept, see:
http://www.ungana-afrika.org/services/incubation_details.htm
AT THE WORKSHOP

The workshop will focus on the internationally proven *eRiding model* of
non-profit support and capacity building. With this model, training,
planning and support efforts can be efficiently mobilized over a group of
organisations, and within a wide variety of development contexts (for more
about eRiding, see http://www.ungana-afrika.org/services/erider_model.htm)

Attendees can choose to participate for one or two days depending on their
schedules. Specific topics will include:

*Day 1:*

   - The concept of the eRider model of community-driven ICT support
   - Design and strategy considerations for a support program (funding,
   scale, sustainability, etc.)
   - Next steps (evaluating what support concepts are right for your
   network)

*Day 2:*

   - Hands-on group planning exercises in designing implementation
   strategies
   - Ongoing management, monitoring and evaluation concepts of a support
   program
   - Scaling and expanding a support and capacity building solution

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

Workshop topics are targeted at groups of development organisations that
share a common sector focus, geographical scope, or managing/funding body
within the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC). Therefore,
attendees should be individuals who have a network focus or interest in the
SADC region. This may include:

   - Managers of membership-driven (or otherwise collaborative)
   organisational groups
   - Interest group representatives that identify strongly with a
   development sector or region
   - Managers of single organisations that coordinate efforts of a
   partner network
