Our consulting company is currently developing a series of tutorials for
use of web tools for nonprofits. The first of these
will be an introduction to using CivicSpace and Drupal as an end-user
(as opposed to a developer, etc.).  We hope it's going to be available
some time next month, but life's been crazy lately.  We are very much
interested in leveraging these technologies for not-for-profit
organizations.

We're going to make a stab at making at least the first of these
tutorials free.  At some point they're probably going to be a minimal cost.

In any case, yes, I agree that Moodle can be a very powerful tool for
exactly the kinds of purposes you mention.
