Today the Minneapolis City Council approved a citywide wireless contract with US Internet that provides a minimum of $11.5 million dollars in ³Digital Inclusion Funds² over the next 7-10 years. CTC advocates worked very hard for many months to develop a community benefits agreement as part of this contract, and all items that were requested have been included in the final deal. Local CTCs will benefit both from the fund itself and associated subsidized internet services, and will be asked to take the lead in developing community portal pages and distributing free trial account vouchers for the network.
