Ex: I didn't know if it was for the reddit, youtube, or the DConf page. Besides, hyperlinking and copy/paste tend to obviate any benefit of shortened URLs. "goo.gl" and such are extremely useful if you're giving someone a URL over the phone, but aside from that, I've never seen much of a point. Obviously I'm not saying "How dare you use a short URL, jerk!" ;) I'm just sayin', FWIW.
