Congratulations are in order for the authors of DIP 1053, "Tuple Unpacking Syntax". Walter and Atila have approved it based on the following rationale:

Tuples are a significant feature that experience with other languages shows has utility. D already has tuples, but they are clumsy to use. This DIP is good, sensible progress toward making tuples easier and more natural to use.

Thanks to Jared Hanson, Nick Treleaven, and Timon Gehr for putting proposal together.

That's great news! Thanks to Timon and Nick for all their hard work on the DIP; I just helped shepherd it through the process.

Is the plan to merge Timon's tuple branch as soon as it's ready? We could realistically have this feature shipping or at least in beta as soon as early next year.
