On the wiki, there is (and has been for a couple of years) a wish-list[1] with
a suggestion that there should be an common API for file-based archives (such
as zip and tar). The downside of specifying an API is deprecation of std.zip's
current API.
I would like to contribute tar code to Phobos, so knowing whether or not there
is (or will be) a common API for file-based archives would help me.
