Those are not reasonable non-mathematical uses. I've hated C++
iostreams from their very beginning. I never use them outside of test
code.

I think Andrei got it right with writefln().



What does 'fln' stand for? Is that something like "Format with LiNe carriage return"? With apologies to Andrei, I can't agree that it's pretty, but I suppose it works. :)
