You could replace "faith" in your statement with pretty much any other
system of forming a consensus and still end up with a true statement.
Faith is definitely not the only detriment to progress, but it is by
no means the only means to it.
In my context, faith is referring to a belief in a theological world view*
without proof**. I guess I should have used "Faith" rather than "faith".
*not including provable wrong world views.
**Note that I hold all theological world view (including whichever one is
correct) to be not provable.
