Really? I have this script that automatically builds the latest DMD
toolchain:

----SNIP----
#!/bin/sh
#
# Pulls git master from github and (re)build everything.
#

set -e
for dir in dmd druntime phobos; do
        (cd "$dir" && git pull --ff-only upstream master)
done

(cd dmd/src && \
        make -f posix.mak clean && \
        make -f posix.mak MODEL=64 -j6)

(cd druntime && \
        make -f posix.mak MODEL=64)

(cd phobos && \
        make -f posix.mak MODEL=64)
----SNIP----

One command builds it all. No frustration at all!
