In short (and omitting some details) code such as:
string s = "C:\\Users" / "John";
...would be the same as:
string s = "C:\\Users" ~ std.path.dirSeparator ~ "John";
This would be much better done with a library type:
auto s = Path("C:\\Users") / "John";
