Is there a particular reason why don't you, heavyweights, concentrate your efforts on LDC instead of Walters DMD? IMO - LDC should benefit from your expertise a whole lot and it would unify a community effort to bring D to the spotlight it needs.
If I'm reading the question right: for various legal reasons Walter can't/won't work on compiles He doesn't own.
