I did some preliminary investigation, with promising results. I think
we should move forward with this.
As a perk, we'll dogfood the .di generation which is clearly not
currently usable. That in turn is making separate compilation of
large-scale projects unnecessarily difficult.

I played around with .di files before but had trouble using them when
building phobos.
