Why is this important? Cant you lock DMD2.x to DMD2.70.x (back-porting bug fixes)?

Back-porting bug fixes requires resources/manpower the compiler team doesn't have. They don't have enough manpower to keep with with the current bugs, let alone adding extra work to each fix by targeting two code bases.
