DLI: From what I recall, an independent project that just simply ported DMD front-end to Linux. I don't remember the details how but it had its own backend. GDMD: One failed attempt at getting a GCC back-end working with DMD. DGCC: The first successful GCC based compiler, to which GDC is derived from.
