Cool, thanks. I don't know about the installer but the executable in the 
zip for Mac OS X is for i386.

$ file dmd-1.072/bin/dmd
dmd-1.072/bin/dmd: Mach-O executable i386

$ file dmd-2.057/bin/dmd
dmd-2.057/bin/dmd: Mach-O 64-bit executable x86_64

Both are supposed to be for 64bit but Walter did some mistake with the 
D1 version.
