Title: RE: [digitalradio] What is ALE?

ALE is "automatic link establishment"

While it covers a number of various types of applications to automatically establish communications with another radio or radio system, in the "ham world" sometimes it refers to the use of an HF modem protocol which is covered in a MIL-STD or STANAG standards.  It is a medium speed and somewhat robust HF data mode.

Subject: [digitalradio] What is ALE?

Hello y'all... This might seem a stupid question, but what is ALE? Is
it a digital mode? I keep bumping into it on the internet, and don't
have a clue as to what it is!!
