Come on down Andy.  We will make a day/weekend out of it.  I have never really run in a uhf/vhf contest for real.  Just play with contacts in the past events.  Getting a few 6 or 2 meter QSOs.  Havent even attempted 440, though my lil 706 has it.

I live 45 miles south west of Buffalo, NY in a rural valley.  With analog
TV,  I get NO Buffalo channels well (just two good Canadian channels),
mostly 40% "snow" on the picture. .  With the same antenna connected to an
external HDTV/DTV tuner I get 7 channels from Buffalo with GREAT picture
quality.

3900 feet ASL.  I do not have a laptop, so there will be no digi ops.

When driving south on I-77 in VA, I love that mountain section where one can
see for seemingly hundreds of miles across the valleys.  I make a habit of
keying up my two meter rig and IDing on any repeater pair in my memory
channels.  Often I trigger 4 or more repeaters at once, then I continue the
journey fantasizing about doing a contest from one of the 'scenic view"
parking lots.
